NEWS AND EVENTS

• On July 7, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI issued his Apostolic Letter, Motu Proprio, Summorum Pontificum. This letter approves the use of the Roman Catholic Mass according to the tradtional Latin rite, and clarifies that this traditional form of the Mass was never abbrogated by the Church. All of the Roman Catholic Masses which are offered within the Order follow the traditional Latin rite,
the ‘extraordinary expression of the ‘Lex orandi’, that is spoken of by Pope Benedict XVI in his letter. Such is the tradition of the Roman Catholic liturgy within the Order.

An updated history of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem which focuses on the history from the loss of Malta to the current time has been assembled, and is available for viewing.
